2016 Year in Review

2016 was a great year. We had a lot of fun traveling to the events and racing with these great racers and meeting all the fans and Companies involved in the racing scene.

We ended the season qualifying #1 at every event and was able to go all season without losing a round until the final race of the year in the finals at Fontana when we broke an axle! We tried to replace it with the help of our fellow racers but the axle end was stuck to the differential and we had to pull out.

Special thanks to Jerry who actually pulled his own axle off to let us borrow it if we could have got the old one out. That is how close the racing community is and we love being part of this brotherhood.

Can’t wait to get back out there next season!

092516 – Import Faceoff Bakersfield Recap

We recently returned to the venue of our first win of the season. Woke up extra early in the morning to make the journey out to Auto Club Famoso in Bakersfield.

Once again we had a full field of 16 cars racing in the class. We knew it would be a hot day but came prepared with the tents and some cold drinks. With the higher track temps we ended up being the only car in the field to run a 9 second pass. Qualified #1 with a 9.85@138.37.

080616 – Raceworz 3

The week before the event was one filled with long nights and parts runs. In the end it was all worth it. We brought out two cars for the Pro All Motor call and finished 1-2 in the class.

The first place win also came with a Whitefield Fab 10-point cage!

Next up is IFO Bakersfield where we get to run with all of our southern California racers!

041016 – Import Drag Racing Circuit Recap

With rain looming for both the CMI Racing at Sacramento Raceway Park and the IDRC’s West Coast Nationals & InstaFame Car Show event at Auto Club Dragway it was a game time decision to make the trip down south once the event up north was canceled!

Going down south was preferred and mother nature made it so. Racing up north means running against the SFWD since the All Motor class was eliminated! There is always the chance of a full class down south too! Last time at IFO Bakersfield the AMP class was packed with a 16-car field!

Managed to qualify with the #1 spot but then then the rain prevented the finals for the class to be run.

022816 – Import Face-Off Bakersfield Recap

The first event of the year was a good one. After a long drive down south the team was able to bring home the win.

The 16-car field marks the greatest turnout for the class in many years. Cannot wait to see the great competition in the class this year. With 4 cars capable of running 9 second passes and 4 other cars on the cusp of breaking the 9 second barrier this season is bound to be full of tight competition!

Looking forward to the next event in Sacramento at CMI!

Quick weekend Recap Video.

Prepping for the 2016 Season

After hitting the 9s pass the team decided it was time to step up the race program. With some help of some Sponsors the following was done.

Much of the competition was running upgraded fuel systems so the Lawrencebuilt team decided to follow suit. Saying goodbye to the trusty Walbro, they moved to a Weldon with upgraded Injector Dynamics injectors. Big thanks to Brian @B&R Fittings.

Jeremy @Drag Cartel stepped in and helped the team out with a new top end and a block from ERL for the new setup.

Javier @Hondata provided the EMS and traction control for the new found power.

With the help of the FCS Degree wheel everything was put together and the team was ready to rock!

More Testing @Sonoma

After a new record setting pass last time out the team wanted to once again get out and do some testing on the old setup. The main change was addition of the certified cage for 9 second passes.

Unfortunately on the first pass the team ran into transmission issues and had to call it a day. A sad farewell for the trusty old motor.

Season End Testing @Sonoma

After the end of the racing season the team decided to do some testing at Sonoma Raceway. To see what the old tired setup could do once dialed in.

Using the data from the last race the team worked to dial in the launch. After a wasted first pass due to a slippery track the team made some adjustments and lined up for a second pass.

The car managed to bite hard and shake off the collector at the 60′ mark. Letting off up top in an effort to not get kicked out since the cage was not certified for < 10.0s passes. To the teams surprise the car managed a 9.92@135. Unfortunately since the 10 second barrier was broken the team had to pack it up for the day. A bittersweet ending to a great day with a new personal best.
